Employees of Mykolaiv hospital embezzled 20 million

Mykolaiv is investigating the alleged misappropriation of more than UAH 20 million allocated for the treatment of newborns in complex neonatal cases. Officials of the Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital are suspected of embezzlement.

According to the investigation, in 2022 the hospital received UAH 38.2 million from the NHSU. However, the audit found that the real value of the services provided was only about UAH 12 million, as assistance was provided in only 86 cases. Thus, more than UAH 20 million was probably misappropriated.

Investigators suspect the chief physician, his deputy, and the head of the newborn department of conspiracy. According to law enforcement, they used forged documents to receive unjustified payments. During the search, 979 medical records were seized, which are considered material evidence. Although the hospital demanded their return, the court refused, recognizing the documents as necessary for the investigation. The investigation is ongoing under the article on misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office.

Mykolaiv military hospital will receive 11 million for reconstruction. All works are to be completed by December 25, 2026. The customer is the Housing and Maintenance Department of Mykolaiv. The tender will be held through an open bidding process, with bids accepted until August 31 and the auction scheduled for September 1. In case of poor quality of work, the contractor is obliged to eliminate the defects, otherwise he faces a fine in the amount of the full cost of the repair.

Europe has allocated 47 million to repair the veterans' hospital in Mykolaiv. It is planned to overhaul the third floor of the hospital for war veterans at a cost of almost 47 million hryvnias. The work is to be completed by the end of 2026 at the expense of the European Union. It is a major overhaul of the third floor of the rehabilitation department of the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans. The selected contractor must complete the work by December 31, 2026.
