A doctor who promised to help a patient obtain a fictitious disability will be tried in Odesa. Law enforcement officers detained her while she was receiving part of the bribe and sent the case to court.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Odesa region.
In Odesa, a doctor from a local medical institution suspected of bribery will be brought to trial. In exchange for $7,000, she promised to help a patient obtain a fictitious diagnosis and disability group.
The case was investigated by operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department and police investigators, who exposed the medical worker in July this year. According to the investigation, the therapist acted in collusion with unidentified accomplices. She offered the man money to ensure the production of documents allegedly confirming a disease that gives him the right to disability.
The patient appealed to law enforcement, and they documented the transfer of the first part of the bribe - $3,000. The woman was detained immediately after receiving the money, which was seized as material evidence.
The court imposed on her a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 242,000, which she used.
After completion of the investigation, the doctor was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining an undue advantage by an official by prior conspiracy. The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years in prison, confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions. The indictment has already been sent to court, and the materials on her accomplices have been separated into separate proceedings.
In September, the SBU uncovered another mobilization evasion scheme in southern Ukraine. In Odesa region, the head and two members of the local expert commission for assessing the daily functioning of a person (formerly the MSEC) were detained for selling fake medical certificates.
