The head of a company in Odesa region decided to "save" on export taxes. By his actions, he caused damage to the state budget in a particularly large amount, for which he will now have to answer.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation found that the director of a grain wholesaler failed to include in the tax returns for the 1st quarter of 2024 part of the profit received from the export of 7.5 thousand tons of soybeans. The products were exported by sea to the Seychelles.
According to the prosecutor's office, the number of products actually sold and the company's income were many times higher than officially documented in the tax return. Accordingly, the amount of taxes and other mandatory payments should have been higher.
As a result of these illegal actions, the state budget did not receive almost UAH 19 million in taxes.
Despite the fact that the compensation of the losses caused to the state was provided in full, the case against the director of the company was referred to the court on the fact of intentional tax evasion in especially large amounts (part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Such a crime is punishable by a fine of up to UAH 425 thousand with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
Recently, an agricultural exporting company that had been evading taxes for some time was exposed in Odesa region. Such actions caused damage to the state budget in the amount of over UAH 12 million.
The BES detectives also completed a pre-trial investigation into the intentional tax evasion on a particularly large scale by a company exporting agricultural products, namely wheat and corn.
Earlier, a company exporting sunflower oil in Odesa region evaded taxes. Such actions caused losses to the state budget of almost UAH five million.
