The director of a construction company was served with a notice of suspicion of misappropriating almost 240 thousand hryvnias of budget funds allocated for the repair of an educational institution. It is about repairing the roof of a school in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police in Odesa region.

According to the investigation, the entrepreneur forged documentation and artificially inflated the amount of work performed and the cost of construction materials, which caused significant damage to the community budget.

The criminal proceedings concern the overhaul of the roof of a general secondary education institution in the Uspenivska community, which was to be carried out under a contract concluded in September 2022. However, according to the findings of the Strategic Investigations Department and investigators of the district police department, the contractor not only failed to fulfill all its obligations but also deliberately overstated the amount of work for two months in its reporting.

As a result, the company received almost a quarter of a million hryvnias from the budget, which the director spent at his own discretion. The 52-year-old suspect is charged with misappropriation of funds in wartime and entering false information into official documents. He faces up to 8 years in prison with a ban on holding managerial positions or engaging in business activities for three years.

Recently, prosecutors of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa sent an indictment to court against the director of a contractor organization on charges of forgery and misappropriation of budget funds.

Earlier in Odesa, the director of a contracting company was accused of misappropriating budget funds during the repair of a school in the city's Prymorsky district. He was served a notice of suspicion.
