The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has imposed a preventive measure on Olga Makohoniuk, head of the Odesa International Airport municipal enterprise.
The court decided to release the official on bail in the amount of UAH 1 million, Slovo i Dilo reported.
The detective of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office asked to arrest Makohoniuk with an alternative to bail. However, the court refused and simply set bail for her. She was also imposed with the usual obligations in this case: not to leave the city of Odesa without permission; to report changes in her place of residence and/or place of work; to refrain from communicating with witnesses; to deposit her passport for travel abroad with the Main Department of the State Migration Service in Odesa Oblast; and to wear an electronic bracelet. The obligations are valid until November 10.
Earlier, detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced suspicion of abuse of office, which caused serious consequences for the public interest, to the head of the Odesa International Airport municipal enterprise.
In June, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine approved a plea agreement with seven people who were members of a criminal organization that established control over the Odesa City Council and received profits from business entities operating in Odesa. Businessmen Borys Kaufman and Alex Borukhovych pleaded guilty to organizing the seizure of the Odesa municipal airport and the proceeds from its activities.
In addition to oligarchs Borys Kaufman and Alex Borukhovych, the case involved the former mayor of Odesa Oleksiy Kostusev, former deputy mayor of Odesa Mykhailo Kuchuk, director of Odesa Airport Development LLC Oleksiy Kochanov, Kaufman's trustee Konstantin Yefremov, and co-owner of Clear City Petro Bahriy.
