The deputy head of the Kherson Regional State Administration was involved in a fatal accident that occurred on the evening of February 26 on the highway near the village of Posad-Pokrovske.
The incident was first reported by local media, and later confirmed by the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, who did not name a specific official.
"A traffic accident involving an employee of the Kherson Regional Military District Administration resulted in the death of a person. The investigation is currently underway," the head of the administration said.
According to preliminary data, a cyclist suddenly entered the road and the official did not notice him. As a result, the man was fatally injured and died on the spot.
According to MOST, the man in question was the deputy head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Klyutsevsky.
All the circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated. The official himself has not yet commented on the incident.
Earlier in Odesa, a driver from Kryvyi Rih, while intoxicated, caused an accident. As it turned out, the man had a certificate of an assistant to a deputy of the Kryvyi Rih City Council and was evading military registration. Over the past year, he has already been charged five times for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile, Odesa region ranked third among the regions of Ukraine with the highest number of road accidents in 2024. There were 1148 accidents in the region. In total, 16,621 road accidents with victims occurred in Ukraine. This is 11% more than in the same period last year. These accidents killed 1,918 people and injured 20,862 others. The largest number of accidents with victims was recorded in Kyiv - 1,393 accidents. Settlements in Dnipropetrovska and Odeska oblasts follow: second and third places with 1,350 and 1,148 road accidents, respectively.
