Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has decided to hire Serhiy Sternenko, a native of Odesa region who is currently volunteering in Kyiv, as an advisor.

This was announced by the minister himself.

"Sergiy will be my advisor on increasing the use of UAVs at the front. His experience will help us realize our common vision of increasing the effectiveness of unmanned units," wrote Mykhailo Fedorov.

According to the minister, the volunteer can be useful when it comes to analyzing the effectiveness of certain unmanned systems.

"Currently, only 50 units out of 400 account for about 70% of all enemy damage. Our goal is to help the other 350 units grow quickly and significantly increase the scale of destruction of the Russians," the minister said.

The day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Sternenko.

On May 1, a woman attacked a public figure and volunteer from Odesa, Serhiy Sternenko, shooting and wounding him. She was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine, who were guarding the activist.

Sternenko was born on March 20, 1995, in the village of Sadove, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, Odesa region. After the creation of the Odesa branch of the Right Sector on February 5, 2014, he became its head on March 22.

Sternenko became a defendant in several criminal cases, including an attack on himself in 2018, which led to the death of one of the attackers. He was initially charged with murder. Later, the Prymorskyi Court of Odesa closed the case of the attack on the activist. Sternenko himself claimed that prosecutors were unable to prove his guilt.

With the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Sternenko joined the territorial defense of Kyiv. He is also actively involved in volunteer activities, including organizing the Heavenly Russian Cutter program, which raises funds to purchase drones to destroy Russian reconnaissance drones.
