SBU detains attacker who tried to kill volunteer from Odesa Serhiy Sternenko

On May 1, a public figure and volunteer from Odesa, Serhiy Sternenko, was attacked. The SBU has already detained the attacker.

Initially, Sternenko himself reported the attack on social media, saying that he was lightly injured but that his life was not in danger.

"I was attacked. I was wounded. Everything is fine, there is no threat to my life," he wrote.

The information was later confirmed by the Security Service of Ukraine, noting that it was an attempted murder with a firearm.

The SBU promptly detained the attacker at the scene. According to the special service, it was thanks to their quick and professional response that the murder of the activist was prevented.

Investigative actions are currently underway. The SBU promises to provide additional information on further developments.
