The collaborator, who worked for the Russian invaders in a penal colony during the occupation of Kherson region, was exposed and detained when he tried to hide in the ranks of the Armed Forces. He was notified of suspicion of collaboration, which provides for up to 15 years in prison.

This was reported by the press service of the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

During the occupation of Kherson region, the 43-year-old man voluntarily joined the Russian penal system. He got a job as a junior inspector in a penal colony, supervised the regime of prisoners, including prisoners of war and pro-Ukrainian citizens, and received a salary in rubles. He also actively promoted cooperation with the occupiers and urged locals to support Russian troops.

However, after the liberation of Kherson, he tried to avoid responsibility by moving to another region of Ukraine and mobilizing to the Armed Forces. There, he was entrusted with the training of military personnel, but failed to escape. Employees of the Internal Security Department of the National Police, together with the SBU in Kherson region, exposed the traitor and detained him.

The man has now been served a notice of suspicion under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code (collaboration). He faces up to 15 years in prison.

Recently, the SBU detained an FSB agent who was planning a terrorist attack near the shopping center in Kherson, using it "in the dark" to blow it up. An unemployed resident of Cherkasy, who had previously arsonized Ukrzaliznytsia facilities, was sent to Kherson by Russian special services to organize the explosion, but law enforcement prevented the crime. The detainee was taken into custody without bail.

In addition, Kherson police investigators served a notice of suspicion to a Russian police officer who participated in the illegal detention of civilians during the occupation of the city. He took civilians to torture chambers where they were subjected to brutal torture.
