Coffee in Odesa region was the most expensive in Ukraine last year

A cup of espresso in Odesa region cost 40 hryvnias at the end of 2024, making it the most expensive in Ukraine.

For comparison, analysts of the Opendatabot platform note that in the neighboring Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, a cup of espresso costs 32 hryvnias.

The closest to the price in Odesa region is Lviv region, where you can drink espresso for 39 hryvnias. According to analysts, on average, in 2024, you had to pay 31 UAH for a cup of coffee. This is 11% more expensive than in 2023. In general, espresso in Ukraine has risen in price by 1.7 times since the start of the full-scale war. Thus, in 2021, the average price for a serving was 19 hryvnias.

The cheapest coffee is in the Khmelnytsky and Sumy regions - 28 UAH. The price in Vinnytsia region increased the most over the year, by 29%, to 31 hryvnias per cup. Only in Kharkiv region did the price of a cup of espresso remain unchanged at 34 hryvnias.

Espresso is the main component of every coffee drink, so its cost directly affects the price of any drink in a coffee shop.

The Ukrainian restaurant automation company Poster POS together with Opendatabot present the Espresso Index of Ukraine 2024 - a large-scale study of the average cost of a cup of coffee in Ukraine.

The Espresso Index is an economic indicator used to measure the cost of a standard cup of espresso in different cities around the world. It can be useful for comparing the price level and cost of living in different places. This indicator helps to assess how big the difference in prices for the same goods and services is in different countries, reflecting purchasing power and inflation.
