Tariffs for gas transportation for domestic consumers will quadruple from January 1, 2025, and this has already caused concern among businessmen.

This decision was made by the National Energy Regulatory Commission at a meeting on December 30 in connection with the termination of Russian gas transit.

As Dmytro Lypa, CEO of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, explained during the meeting, in 2024, 85% of revenue will be from the transportation of gas originating in the Russian Federation. That is, 15% is what we receive from domestic customers. This tariff increase is not enough to fully compensate us. He assured that the GTS Operator, for its part, has taken all measures to reduce costs: compressor stations are being closed and mothballed, and the number of staff and expenses are being optimized.

According to the decision of the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission, the tariff for natural gas transportation is to be increased from UAH 124.2 to UAH 502 per 1,000 cubic meters, or by almost 305%.

This will become an additional burden for industrial enterprises, warned business representatives who took part in the meeting, as it will increase annual costs by UAH 300 million.

"In the current environment, against the backdrop of rising electricity tariffs, we are simply unable to withstand such a significant additional burden," warned Sergiy Bilenkyi, head of the Federation of Metallurgists.

Earlier, Infoksvodokanal reported that tariffs for centralized water supply and centralized sewerage for consumers of all categories, except for households, will change on January 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, as of August 1, 2024, the debt of the population of Odesa to the fuel and energy companies, namely monopolists, reached UAH 2.1 billion. Moreover, Odesa residents owe UAH 223.9 million for water supply and sewerage to the Infoksvodokanal branch.

Earlier, Opendatabot analysts calculated that the number of utility debtors in the South of Ukraine totals 49,515 consumers . Debts for utilities have increased by a third since the start of the full-scale invasion.
