City Council members are being replaced in Odessa: one claimed he hadn't signed anything

The Odessa City Territorial Election Commission of the Odessa District in Odessa Oblast has initiated the process of replacing members of the Odessa City Council from the “Trust the Deeds” party. Some of the elected officials are being stripped of their seats based on their own requests, while two others are being removed at the voters’ request.

This was reported by an Intent correspondent from the election commission meeting.

Based on their own statements, Pavlo Vugelman, Ihor Kolesnyk, and Tetiana Prodanchuk are being stripped of their mandates as members of the Odesa City Council. At the same time, the terms of Oleg Bryndak and Vasyl Ieremiya are being terminated at the request of voters.

During the meeting, an issue arose regarding Kolesnik’s statement. According to Iryna Kutsenko (Yesinovich), a member of the Odessa City Council representing the “Trust the Deeds” party, the deputies had written similar statements back in 2020, whereas the current statement is dated September 19, 2026.

At the same time, as reported by an Intent correspondent, a man who identified himself as Kolesnik’s attorney called the commission. He stated that the Odessa City Council member had not signed the resignation statement and is currently abroad.

If the commission registers new council members to replace the recalled ones now, the correspondent notes, there may be no further procedure for their recall.

Meanwhile, the candidates slated to be registered to replace the Odesa City Council members are gathered outside the commission’s office, awaiting a decision.

During the meeting, the commission is determining which candidates will replace the council members whose terms are being terminated.

Specifically, Zakhar Petrovitsky has been proposed to replace the late council member Dmytro Tantsyura.Oleg Kislovsky has been proposed to replace OlegBryndak;Iordanova to replace MarinaLozovenko; Oleg Loban to replace VasylIeremiya; andOlena Talalaieva to replace OksanaAntonishchak.

The commission also considered the candidacy of Oleg Loban—a former military commissar of the Primorsky District Territorial Election Commission and a former member of the executive committee. His candidacy was also approved.

Previously, the procedure for recalling Odessa City Council members from the “Trust the Deeds” party had become the subject of a legal dispute. The party initially attempted to carry out the procedure to replace four council members, but the decision was blocked by the Odessa District Administrative Court.

Subsequently, according to media reports, the party won the case on appeal, after which the issue of replacing the deputies was again brought before the election commission.

Earlier, the “Trust the Deeds” political party officially announced its decision to recall four members of the Odesa City Council through a popular initiative. The deputies in question are Oleg Bryndak, Marina Lozovenko, Oleksandr Matveev, and Vasyl Ieremiya.
