City council member in Odesa region fined for abuse of influence

Gevorg Bznuni, director general of the Berezovsk Central Hospital and a member of the city council, was found guilty of abuse of influence for taking a bribe of 10 thousand for declaring a person liable for military service unfit.

This was reported by 368.media with reference to the court verdict.

According to the verdict, in November 2025 - January 2026, a local resident approached Bznuni who wanted to get a deferral or status of unfit for military service through the military medical commission.

On January 28, 2026, in his office, the deputy told the man that he could resolve the issue by influencing the decision of the military medical commissions. He demanded 10 thousand dollars for this service.

Gevorg Bznuni proposed a scheme: the man should undergo inpatient treatment in his hospital, and the money should be transferred in installments. The first tranche is 50 thousand UAH immediately. Then another 500 dollars on February 5, and then the rest of the amount after receiving the necessary decision of the MEC.

According to the verdict, the defendant received: 1,650 dollars. On April 29, the prosecutor of the Dobroslav District Prosecutor's Office and Gevorg Bznuni concluded a plea agreement. The court approved it on May 27. The court sentenced the doctor-deputy to a fine of 93.5 thousand hryvnias.

The court completely canceled the seizure of Bznuni's property on February 16, 2026:

The court ruled to return thecar to its owner, Bznuni himself. The court returned to him the seized UAH 901 thousand. 51 thousand dollars and 28 thousand euros. Also, after the verdict comes into force, he will be returned 2 million hryvnias of bail.
