The Kyiv District Court of Odesa fined a serviceman for attempting to bribe a patrol policeman.
As stated in the court' s verdict, the attempt to bribe the patrol policeman for UAH 2,000 resulted in a fine of UAH 17,000.
According to the case, in March, while patrolling the Kyivskyi district of Odesa, on Denys Maksyshko Street, police officers stopped a Smart car and found that the military man was driving without a driver's license. Later, the patrol policemen found out that he had been deprived of the right to drive for a year and started to draw up a report.
That's when the soldier offered the policeman 2,000 hryvnias to stop drawing up the report and let the driver go. But the policeman did not agree and called his colleagues from the National Police.
At the court hearing, thesoldier pleaded guilty to the charges and explained that after the incident he realized the unlawful nature of his actions, recognized their illegality and condemned his own behavior. At the court hearing, he expressed sincere remorse, apologized for his actions and assured the court that he would not allow such things to happen in the future. In addition, he said that he was doing his military service, had not been previously prosecuted, had positive characteristics, and asked the court to take these circumstances into account when sentencing him.
In addition to the fine, the military was fined another 3,500 hryvnias, which the state spent on examination, and two thousand hryvnias, which were supposed to be a bribe, were confiscated.
Earlier, analysts of the Opendatabot platform counted 48 judgments issued by judges in corruption cases in Odesa region in four months of 2026. Odesa region ranked fifth in the country by this indicator.
