Case on negligence of engineer during repair of shelter in kindergarten sent to court in Odesa

Investigators have sent to court a case charging a technical supervision engineer with negligence during the repair of a shelter in a kindergarten.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

According to the investigation, a certified entrepreneur authorized to carry out technical supervision, in accordance with an agreement concluded with the city council in 2023, undertook to monitor the quality of work performed by the contractor during the overhaul of the protective structure in the preschool. However, the technical supervision engineer failed to properly check the scope and quality of construction and installation work, as well as the materials used. Nevertheless, he approved and certified the acts of acceptance of the work performed, which contained inaccurate information: the work was not completed in full and did not correspond to either the design estimates or the primary reporting, in particular, the actual list and quantity of materials by type of work.

This was the basis for the excessive transfer of budget funds to the construction company's account, which caused the community to suffer losses of more than UAH 270 thousand.

If his guilt is proven, the engineer faces a fine of two thousand to four thousand tax-free minimum incomes or correctional labor for up to two years, or even imprisonment for up to three years, with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.

Earlier, the Peresypskyi District Court of Odesa found guilty of abuse of office the person responsible for technical supervision of the overhaul of the premises of the consultative and diagnostic department of the polyclinic of the Odesa Regional Clinical Antitumor Center. She simply wrote "I confirm the volumes" on blank A4 sheets of paper, certified them with her own signature and stamp as "Technical Supervision Engineer" and handed them over to a private enterprise. At the court hearing, the convicted person fully pleaded guilty to the charges as presented and set forth in the indictment.
