Investigators from the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police have served a notice of suspicion to a technical supervision engineer who was involved in the construction of a house for the military.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region.

The official is suspected of negligence. According to the investigation, he signed an acceptance certificate for the reconstruction of a building in one of the cities of Odesa region into a 39-apartment residential building to provide housing for members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their families. In the document, he confirmed that the scope and cost of the work, which was not actually performed, was appropriate.

As a result, budget funds in the amount of more than UAH 418 thousand were unjustifiably transferred to the accounts of the contractor, causing losses to the state. The suspect's actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. If found guilty, the engineer faces imprisonment for a term of two to five years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and a fine of two hundred fifty to seven hundred fifty tax-free minimum incomes or without it.

In September, the Berezivka District Court of Odesa Oblast found a technical supervision engineer who signed certificates of completion for the overhaul of a children's shelter in Berezivka guilty of abuse of office to misappropriate money. The defendant signed several certificates of completion for which the company was paid, but the work was not performed. As a result, the engineer and his accomplice, who died during the investigation, seized budget funds totaling UAH 162,519.33.
