Budget funds allocated to support veterans in Kherson

Kherson has amended the comprehensive city program for the development and support of municipal non-profit healthcare enterprises for 2025-2027. More than UAH 2 million has been allocated from the local and state budgets to provide veterans' support specialists and certain activities.

The relevant order was signed by the head of the Kherson City Military Administration Yaroslav Shanko.

According to the updated program, the main focus is on supporting war veterans and demobilized soldiers, as well as on measures to support the military who defended the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

In 2025, UAH 2.1 million is allocated for these purposes. Of this amount, UAH 538 thousand is allocated from the local budget of Kherson, and the rest - more than UAH 1.6 million - is a subvention from the state budget.

The funding is planned to be distributed among four municipal medical institutions of the city:

According to the program, medical institutions should provide support for veterans and demobilized soldiers and carry out certain support measures for them. All activities will be financed both from the local budget and from the state subvention.

The changes were made within the budget of the Kherson territorial community for 2026 and are in line with the legislation on martial law, the powers of military administrations and local government regulations. Control over the implementation of the program is entrusted to the Health Department of the Kherson City Council and the heads of municipal medical institutions.

Last year, the Kherson region updated its program to support veterans and families of the fallen. Families of fallen defenders will receive financial assistance, and veterans will receive additional payments and utility benefits. The key updates include enhanced medical, physical and psychological assistance for the families of fallen soldiers. In particular, their family members will be able to receive free treatment at the Kherson Regional Hospital for War Veterans.
