The Kherson region has updated its support program for veterans and families of the fallen. Families of fallen defenders will receive financial assistance, and veterans will receive additional payments and utility benefits.

This is evidenced by the order of the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin.

The Kherson Regional Military Administration has amended the program of social support for military personnel, veterans, and families of fallen defenders of Ukraine for 2024-2026.

The key updates include enhanced medical, physical, and psychological assistance for the families of fallen soldiers. In particular, their family members will be able to receive free treatment at the Kherson Regional Hospital for War Veterans.

It is also planned to set up psychological aid centers at medical facilities where servicemen are treated. This should provide access to professional support without unnecessary bureaucracy and queues.

In addition, annual medical examinations and check-ups for the families of fallen defenders have been envisaged. If necessary, they will be hospitalized in appropriate healthcare facilities. All expenses are covered by the budget.

Another point is the extraordinary service in hospitals and pharmacies. This rule will apply to all family members of deceased veterans and military personnel.

In addition to medical services, the program provides for financial support. Families of fallen defenders will receive a one-time financial assistance of 50 thousand hryvnias. War veterans covered by the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of Their Social Protection" will be able to receive a one-time allowance of UAH 10,000. The program also provides for a 50% discount on utility bills.

Among other expenses, the budget also allocates more than UAH 300 thousand for medical care, rehabilitation, creation of psychological centers and free treatment for relatives of the victims in the hospital for war veterans.

At the beginning of the year, a veterans' space was opened in the Beryslav community in Kherson Oblast, a special place to support veterans, their families, and the families of fallen and missing Ukrainian defenders. Meetings and events will be held here on a regular basis to provide psychological, social and legal assistance.
