A woman from the Kherson region will be tried in absentia on charges of collaboration. According to the investigation, she headed an illegal “territorial department” of the occupation administration in Nova Mayachka and urged local residents to obtain Russian passports.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors from the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office have filed an indictment with the court against a resident of the Kherson region, who is charged with collaboration under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, no later than March 2024, the woman voluntarily agreed to accept the position of the so-called “head of the territorial department” in an illegal government body established by the Russian Federation’s occupation administration in the village of Nova Mayachka, Oleshky District.

Investigators believe that in this role, she supported the activities of the occupation administration, organized logistical and personnel support, managed the work of her subordinates, and encouraged local residents to obtain Russian passports.

In addition, according to law enforcement officials, the accused facilitated the housing of Russian military personnel in abandoned homes belonging to residents who had fled to territory controlled by Ukraine.

The woman is currently wanted by authorities. The trial will proceed in absentia.

A special pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators from the SBU Directorate in the Kherson region.

Recently, Oleg Mikhailov, a 51-year-old resident of the village of Velyka Blagovishchenka in the Kakhovka District, who headed an illegal education department established by the occupying authorities in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, was sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison for collaborating with the Russian occupiers.
