The man who was shot on Lyustdorfskaya Road in Odesa turned out to be a member of the military. Before the shooting, the assailant deliberately caused a traffic accident, after which he shot the 50-year-old driver twice during the altercation.
This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident occurred on the morning of September 30 in the Kyivskyi District of Odesa. According to the investigation, an elderly resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region was driving a ZAZ car when he saw a Chevrolet driven by the serviceman.

The man deliberately caused a collision. After the accident, the drivers began to discuss the circumstances of the incident. During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a pistol and shot the soldier in the chest.
The wounded soldier fell onto the asphalt. The attacker then approached him and fired another aimed shot—into his neck. The 50-year-old soldier died at the scene from his injuries.

Patrol officers detained the shooter near the crime scene. During the initial investigative actions, law enforcement officers seized the pistol, shell casings, and other physical evidence, which they sent for forensic analysis.
Investigators entered the details into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations. The man was notified that he is suspected of intentional homicide and illegal possession of a firearm.
Law enforcement officials are currently determining the possible motives for the murder. They are also deciding on a pretrial detention measure for the suspect.
The man faces many years in prison for his actions.
According to Intenta sources, the victim of the shooting on Lyustdorfskaya Road in Odesa was a captain in the Ukrainian Navy.
Earlier, in the Primorsky District of Odesa, a 52-year-old foreign national driving a BMW crashed into a traffic jam near a mobile checkpoint. Four cars were damaged in the collision.
