A shelter in the "Fairy Tale Tunnel" in Odesa has been left in a state of disrepair

The shelter for visitors to "Delfin" Beach in Odesa, which was located in the "Fairy Tale Tunnel," has been left in a state of neglect.

An Intenta reporter visited the shelter to check if anything had changed in nearly a month—it turned out that nothing had.

The shelter is open but remains neglected—the lights don’t turn on, there are no bulbs, and there are no conditions for vacationers to take shelter and wait out a storm with even minimal comfort.

A brokensign indicates that the limited liability company “Delfin” is responsible for the shelter. According to the YouControl service, a company with that name was registered in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast, and its founder was the limited liability company “Langeron”—both are currently defunct.

The “Fairy-Tale Tunnel” is an underground corridor stretching 200 meters and located 20 meters below ground. It was built between 1976 and 1979 and connected the “Magnolia” sanatorium with “Dolphin” Beach. Previously, an elevator ran from the sanatorium down to the tunnel, allowing visitors to quickly reach the coast. It got its name because its walls were decorated with a variety of ornaments and characters from Alexander Pushkin’s fairy tales. These were rendered in mosaic. In 2014, the tunnel was closed to visitors. However, in the summer of 2024, it was reopened as a storage facility.

Meanwhile, Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, stated that there are 27 swimming spots open in Odesa. Among them, he mentioned: Velykofontansky, Delfin, Kaleton, the “Without Limits” Inclusive Beach, Langeron, Arcadia, Kurortny, Municipal (10th Station of Velykyi Fontan), Zolotyi Bereg, “For People with Disabilities,” and Chaika.

In May, Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, signedan orderto inspect the region’s beaches ahead of the upcoming tourist season. At that time, the head of the Regional State Administration stated that more beaches are planned to open this year than last year.
