An attempt to resolve an issue with military recruitment through connections at the TCC resulted in a court ruling in Mykolaiv. A salesperson at a home improvement store tried to profit from conscripts.

This was reported by Intent, citing the verdict of the Ingulsky District Court of Mykolaiv.

As investigators established, in late 2025, one of the employees of the recruitment and selection system—whose case has been separated into a separate proceeding—proposed organizing a scheme to obtain money from a citizen who was wanted in the “Oberig” system. A sales consultant at one of Mykolaiv’s construction supply stores was recruited to carry out the plan.

It turned out that the accomplices had obtained information that the man was wanted and sent him confirmation of this via a messaging app. They then informed him that the problem could be resolved for a fee by allegedly exerting influence on officials with access to the relevant decisions.

In February 2026, the defendant met with the man at the “Epicenter” hypermarket in Mykolaiv and named the amount—500 U.S. dollars. In exchange for this money, he promised to help remove the client from the wanted list and influence the decisions of authorized officials. The money was subsequently handed over, and the man gave a portion of the bribe—$200—to his accomplice.

During the investigation, the suspect admitted his guilt, cooperated with the investigation, and agreed to identify other participants in the scheme. This served as the basis for a plea agreement between him and the prosecutor’s office.

The court took into account that the defendant had no prior convictions, sincerely repented, and actively assisted in solving the crime. As a result, he was sentenced to a fine of 51,000 hryvnias, as agreed upon by the parties.

Separately, the court ruled on the bail posted by the man’s wife. Once the verdict becomes final, nearly 100,000 hryvnias will be transferred as a charitable donation to the account of one of the military units to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The bail provider herself submitted the corresponding application, and the parties to the proceedings did not object to this decision.

In May, a court in Mykolaiv imposed a preventive measure on an instructor at the recruitment and conscription department who is suspected of being involved in a bribery scheme to resolve issues with the Territorial Conscription Commission. According to the investigation, the man, together with an accomplice, demanded $500 to remove a conscript from the wanted list.
