A former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (6th convocation) was sentenced in absentia to 13 years in prison. The court found that he had facilitated the occupation of the peninsula.
This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed indefinite sanctions on the convicted man.
In court, prosecutors proved that in 2014, the official voted in favor of illegal resolutions to hold a sham referendum and adopt the “constitution” of the occupying regime. In doing so, he supported illegal decisions aimed at legitimizing the seizure of Crimea and concealing the fact that the peninsula was occupied by the Russian Federation’s armed forces.
Later, the defendant supported the adoption of the “Constitution of the Republic of Crimea” during an extraordinary session of the occupying “State Council.” In doing so, he ensured the functioning of an illegal governing body and contributed to the consolidation of the occupying regime on the peninsula.
Some time later, the man received a deputy’s mandate following the results of illegally organized elections to the “State Council of the Republic of Crimea, 1st Convocation.”
On October 7, the case against Ivan Prosoyedov, acting head of the occupation administration of Yevpatoria, was also referred to court. He is accused of collaboration.
According to the investigation, in 2024 he voluntarily agreed to temporarily serve as acting head of the illegal administration of Yevpatoria. To this end, he submitted a corresponding application, after which the so-called “Yevpatoria City Council” approved his candidacy.
