Detectives from the Odessa Regional Office of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine have determined that a 30-year-old Odessa resident registered a company specializing in the export of agricultural products in his name for 10,000 hryvnias.
According to the press service of the Economic Security Bureau, he knew full well that he would not manage the company, conduct business operations, dispose of the company’s funds, or perform the duties of a director.
To carry out the scheme, the suspect provided his personal data to individuals who prepared a set of documents containing false information. The suspect signed these documents at a notary’s office and submitted them for state registration of changes to the legal entity’s information.
Subsequently, the details of the fictitious company were used to export agricultural products to the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Georgia, and Moldova through the ports of Greater Odessa. At the same time, the nominal director did not actually manage the company or oversee its financial and business activities.
During the investigation, BEB detectives uncovered the mechanism for using the fictitiously registered company and shut down its operations. The illegal export scheme was dismantled.
Based on the evidence gathered, the man was notified of his status as a suspect under Part 2 of Article 205-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (entering knowingly false information into documents for the state registration of a legal entity and submitting such documents by prior conspiracy of a group of persons).
If the man is found guilty in court, he faces a fine ranging from eight thousand to ten thousand non-taxable minimum incomes or imprisonment for a term of three to five years, with or without deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
Previously, the Economic Security Bureau compelled an entrepreneur providing international transportation services to reimburse the state budget nearly 10 million hryvnias in unpaid taxes.
