A Kherson resident was arrested for directing fire at food supplies

A court has ordered the detention of a 61-year-old man suspected of passing on the coordinates of food processing plants and shopping centers to the Russians. He is charged with treason.

This is stated in the ruling of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv. 

According to the case file, the suspect communicated with representatives of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) via the Telegram messaging app. He provided the enemy with information on the coordinates of locations where, in his opinion, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces might be stationed. He also relayed information on the locations of checkpoints.

The man also reported on the locations of food processing plants and shopping centers. Some of these facilities were later hit by Russian shelling using various types of weapons.

According to law enforcement officials, the man repeatedly posted comments on the social network “Odnoklassniki” that essentially justified Russian aggression.

At the court hearing, the suspect pleaded guilty but refused to provide any explanation.  

As previously reported by Intent, a community leader in the Kherson region who coordinated Russian attacks in the area was sentenced. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison. 

After the liberation of the region’s right bank, he did not manage to flee to Russia. Remaining in his native village, the man posted anti-Ukrainian comments online. He tracked the temporary bases of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and passed this information on to the Russians. SBU counterintelligence officers detained the traitor during an undercover “assignment” in the Mykolaiv region. There, he was also supposed to coordinate shelling operations. During searches, a smartphone containing evidence of his work for the FSB and a Russian passport were found in his possession.
