Two residents of the Kherson region, who held leadership positions in the occupation administration of the Skadovsk district, have been charged in absentia with collaboration. According to investigators, the suspects forced people to remove Ukrainian symbols and helped house Russian military personnel in the homes of local residents.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the case file, in May 2023, a 57-year-old suspect became the so-called “deputy head of the Kalanchak Military-Civilian Administration.” His 29-year-old colleague served as “head of the Skadovsk Territorial Administration.”

In these positions, they were responsible for the operations of municipal enterprises and services. In particular, they issued orders to replace Ukrainian symbols with Russian ones and facilitated the housing of members of the occupying forces in the homes of local residents who had fled to territory controlled by Ukraine.

Previously, a resident of the village of Dudchany in the Kherson region was found guilty by a court of collaboration for participating in an illegal referendum during the Russian occupation.

She went from house to house, showed representatives of theoccupyingauthorities where people lived, and assisted in collecting ballots and using a portable ballot box.

During the trial, the defendant did not admit guilt. She stated that she acted out of fear of armed Russian soldiers and was also trying to obtain assistance for her seriously ill husband.
