A drone carrying explosives was discovered in Romania near the border with Moldova

An unidentified drone carrying explosives was discovered in a field in Romania. The unmanned aerial vehicle was found near the border with Moldova, and its origin is currently being investigated.

According to Digi24, a local resident found the damaged drone on the morning of September 1 in a field in Vaslui County. The location is approximately 30 km from Romania’s border with Moldova.

The local resident reported the discovery to law enforcement. Police and gendarmes subsequently arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and established a security perimeter.

Specialists from the Romanian Intelligence Service were also called in to examine the drone. They determined that the device contained explosives.

No one was injured as a result of the drone’s crash. There is also no information regarding property damage.

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the circumstances under which the drone ended up in Romanian territory. The origin of the drone and the time of its crash have not yet been determined.

The prosecutor’s office attached to the Iasi Court of Appeals has also been brought in on the case. Investigators are tasked with establishing all the circumstances of the incident and determining next steps.

Media reports indicate that the drone will most likely be detonated in a controlled manner to eliminate the danger.
