A building collapsed in the Moldavanka neighborhood of Odesa

On September 16, part of a building on Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street in the Moldavanka neighborhood of Odesa collapsed.

This was reported by an Intenta photojournalist, who published photos from the scene.

According to the Odesa City Council, the collapse occurred during the day. Preliminary reports indicate that no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Specialists from the Khadzhibey District Administration and relevant emergency services are on the scene. They are taking measures to ensure public safety.

The sidewalk next to the building has been completely cordoned off. Authorities plan to clear the area and remove the construction debris.

City officials noted that the structure is privately owned and classified as non-residential property. The building is owned by two legal entities. Further decisions regarding the building will be made by the owners.

Photos from the scene show a destroyed section of the facade, exposed wooden beams, damaged walls, and a large amount of debris that has fallen onto the sidewalk. Sagging wires and damaged window frames and ceiling elements are also visible.

As Intent previously reported, on the night of September 12, Russian forces launched a massive strike on Odesa. A “Kalibr” missile struck a 25-story building in Arkadia.

Two people were killed in the attack; their bodies were recovered by rescue workers during search-and-rescue operations. Among the apartments that were completely destroyed was the home of Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska’s family.

On August 1, a Russian “suicide drone” struck a high-rise apartment building in Arkadia. A fire broke out, and three people were injured—a 28-year-old man and an 18-year-old boy were hospitalized with thermal burns, and a 30-year-old woman was also injured.
