The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority plans to improve security at Ukrainian ports. By the end of the year, 38 additional mobile shelters are to appear there.
This was reported by the USPA on Facebook.
This decision was made to protect employees and infrastructure from possible air attacks. This initiative is part of USPA's efforts to ensure the smooth and safe operation of ports even in a high-risk environment. The shelters will be built in the ports of Greater Odesa, Danube and Mykolaiv region.
Employee safety is a key condition for the stable operation of the Ukrainian port industry. Due to the size of the territories, the specifics of their operations and the short time missiles take to reach them, seaports need additional protective structures. Shelters will allow for a quick response to air threats, providing quick access to protective structures for workers who are critical to the daily operation of critical infrastructure.
In addition, 10 additional modular shelters have recently been installed in the port of Odesa with the support of the Ukrainian Foundation. They are located right next to the workplaces so that port workers can get protection immediately.
The 30 shelters in Odesa are scheduled to open by November 1. This year, parents of 70% of students who plan to study in the city wanted their children to study full-time. According to Olena Buynevych, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, 67 shelters were in operation in 2022-2023, which were renovated in educational institutions, and another 24 institutions hosted schools and kindergartens under contract.
