Pseudo-referendums in occupied territories
Pseudo-referendums are illegitimate votes organized by Russian occupation authorities on captured territories of Ukraine with the aim of their annexation to Russia. The largest-scale pseudo-referendums were conducted on September 23-27, 2022 in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions during the full-scale Russian invasion. These measures have no international legitimacy and are considered a violation of Ukraine's sovereignty. Materials on pseudo-referendums cover both the organization of these illegal processes and legal prosecution of individuals involved in their conduct and campaigning.
