Embezzlement of budget funds
Embezzlement is the unlawful appropriation or theft of state, municipal, or public funds by officials, contractors, and other persons who have access to budgetary resources. Such crimes include theft during infrastructure repairs, purchases for institutions, port management, and other facilities. Investigation and prosecution of embezzlement is an important part of combating corruption in government bodies and state institutions.
