Extortion of a bribe is a corruption offense when an official demands money, valuables, or services as a condition for performing their official duties or providing benefits. Such actions violate anti-corruption laws and undermine public trust in state institutions. In Odesa and other regions of Ukraine, law enforcement regularly detects and holds accountable individuals who extort bribes from military personnel, citizens, and other persons.
