Volunteers investigate a case of bestiality in Odesa region

This week, Odesa and the Odesa region have been at the center of several high-profile events, from rocket attacks to corruption arrests. A man suspected of sexual abuse of animals and child molestation was detained in the region.

The focus of the week is whether the police acted knowing about the rape of a dog.

  • A local resident suspected of sexual abuse of dogs and child molestation was detained in the village of Mayory, Odesa region. According to animal rights activists, the man has been doing this for a long time, and local residents and police ignored what was happening.
  • Law enforcement officers had previously responded to calls but did not react, citing the lack of a relevant article in the code.
  • According to the defendant's fellow villager, he is 20 years old, and this is not the first time he has done this. And the worst part is that his violent actions were witnessed by children, who filmed it all on video.
  • The press service of the main department of the National Police in Odesa region reported that law enforcement officers had identified the person involved in the crime. The police opened two criminal proceedings - under articles on animal cruelty and child molestation.
  • The police also reported that the leadership of the Odesa Oblast Police Department initiated an internal investigation, which will provide a legal assessment of the actions of the police, whether they really did nothing to stop the rapist.

  • On the night of June 1, the Liman community of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, Odesa region, suffered from a UAV attack. The attack damaged private households and the building of a recreation center.
  • On the night of June 3, Odesa residents were woken up by an attack by Russians using unmanned aerial vehicles, which resulted in five civilian casualties.
  • On the night of June 4, the enemy launched more than 20 UAVs in Odesa region. One person was injured in the leg. Nine people also sought psychological support.
  • On the same day, it became known that since 2022, 12 children have been killed and 60 others injured by Russian strikes in Odesa region.
  • As a result of the attack on June 5, the civilian infrastructure of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district was damaged. In particular, the building of a family medicine outpatient clinic was destroyed, and the premises of a lyceum and a center for children and youth creativity were damaged.

  • On May 31, Hennadiy Trukhanov appointed an interim acting director of the municipal enterprise "Pravo", which is responsible for organizing state registration of marriages.
  • On the same day, rumors circulated in Odesa that Vitaliy Barvinenko, the head of the Odesa District Council, had hit a man while driving a car. The politician quickly denied this information in his Facebook post: "Some alternatively gifted citizens reported an accident with my participation. First of all, I have been riding with a driver since I was 15 years old and do not drive a car, and secondly, I am in Kyiv for public events. Thirdly, if I have a desire to run over someone at a crosswalk, it is definitely not ordinary citizens."
  • The director of the Odesa Regional Hospital ordered an internal investigation into the work of the Odesa Regional Perinatal Center following an incident involving a woman who was kicked out of the hospital because she did not have enough money. The doctors involved in the incident have been suspended from work, and the commission is checking all medical records and reviewing clinical protocols. Earlier, a video was posted online showing doctors telling a pregnant woman to pack her things and leave the hospital. "We are adults here - doctors, we tell you what to do to deliver the baby. We are not paid to buy you medicine. We didn't know you were in the hospital, but you were, and somehow these issues can be resolved."
  • June 2 The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office sends to court the case against the former director of the state enterprise Polygraph Combine and head of the Odesa Regional State Administration , Maksym Stepanov, and five other people.
  • On June 3, Gennadiy Trukhanov ordered to extend the suspension of Marat Kasimov, the first deputy director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning. Previously, he had been acting director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the Odesa City Council and the city's chief architect, but in March, Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov removed him from office. In early March, the acting director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning , Marat Kasimov, was detained in Odesa while receiving $10,000, which law enforcement suspects he took as a bribe.
  • On the same day, police and the Security Service of Ukraine detained the acting head of one of the district administrations of the Odesa City Council in Odesa. According to law enforcement, in prior conspiracy with unidentified persons, he asked the entrepreneur for UAH 100,000 for a positive decision on the approval of the placement of four trade kiosks. In addition, the entrepreneur had to pay a thousand hryvnias in kickbacks for each kiosk every month.
