Ukraine returns 185 war prisoners from Russian capture

The 75th prisoner exchange took place on the afternoon of June 5, with 185 Ukrainian servicemen released from Russian captivity.

According to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, one Ukrainian civilian who had been held in captivity by the Russians since 2022 was also returned to his homeland.

Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including representatives of the Navy, Land Forces, Airborne Forces, Special Forces, Air Assault Forces, as well as soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service, have returned home. More than half of the defenders released today were captured in 2022, some of them during the defense of Mariupol. Among those released is a participant in a helicopter operation to build an air bridge to Azovstal.

In general, Ukrainians who fought in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kyiv, and Kursk sectors are returning home. The youngest released is 26 years old, the oldest is 62 years old. There are two officers among the released defenders today.
