The City Center shopping mall in Mykolaiv was closed following attacks on Metro and Epicenter

In Mykolaiv, the "City Center" shopping and entertainment center has temporarily suspended operations as of September 10. The facility's administration attributed the closure to technical issues.

“Starting September 10, the City Center shopping and entertainment center is temporarily closed for technical reasons. We will announce the reopening date at a later time. See you soon,” the administration’s statement reads.

Meanwhile, the closure of City Center comes amid recent Russian attacks on commercial facilities in Mykolaiv. Specifically, on the evening of September 8, Russian troops attacked the city, damaging the “Metro” hypermarket.

Windows in the building were shattered, and the roof of the shopping center was also damaged. The Metro hypermarket is located at 9d Heroes of Ukraine Avenue.

The company reported that there were no casualties among Metro employees or visitors. Specialists are currently assessing the damage caused by the attack and determining the measures needed to restore the facility’s operations. A specific date for the hypermarket’s reopening has not yet been announced.

Another attack on a retail facility in Mykolaiv occurred on the evening of September 4. The Russian military struck“Epicenter” with attack drones. A man and a 17-year-old girl were injured as a result of the attack.

However, the City Center administration has not stated whether the temporary closure of the shopping center is related to the Russian attacks. The official reason currently cited is technical issues.

Shopping centers are being attacked not only in Mykolaiv. For example, on August 24, Russian forces struck the “Epicenter” hypermarket in the Kotovskyi neighborhood of Odesa. At that time, five people were reported injured as a result of strikes on the warehouse facilities.
