Today's attack on Mykolaiv region was a test for air defense and power engineers. The enemy used 14 air targets, 12 of which were shot down, but two hits caused large-scale power outages.
This was reported by Vitaliy Kim, head of Mykolaiv regional power distribution company.
More than 16,000 subscribers were left without electricity, and the State Emergency Service and energy specialists are working in an emergency mode to restore the damaged infrastructure of the Snihuriv community. The main feature of this attack was a new tactic of the enemy: the use of the Ukrainian LTE network to control drones.
According to Vitaliy Kim, the occupiers installed FPV systems on the drones, allowing the enemy to see the target in real time. Such technological 'looting' in the digital space makes drones more resistant to electronic warfare, turning a common weapon into a killer video camera.
In Mykolaiv itself, a fire broke out due to the falling wreckage of one of the downed drones. The roof of an unused warehouse building caught fire, as well as garbage in an open area nearby. According to the State Emergency Service, the fire, which covered an area of 40 square meters, was extinguished in less than an hour. Twenty-one rescuers and six units of special equipment were involved in the firefighting.
It is also known that the occupiers have built a system of 'education' of drone operators in Crimea, focused on young people. The entire process - from recruiting young men to sending them to the front in the ranks of the Russian armed forces - now works as a well-established conveyor belt with its own infrastructure.
According to Russian media reports, a large-scale training complex for UAV pilots has been deployed in the occupied territory , which allegedly outstrips all similar facilities in Russia in terms of capacity. The training program is designed for a two-month period, and more than 1500 invaders have already passed through this training center, being prepared to perform combat missions as part of the occupation forces.
