Odessa ranks second in terms of the number of diplomatic missions damaged by Russian attacks

Over the years of full-scale war resulting from Russian attacks, Odesa has become one of the cities in Ukraine with the highest number of damaged diplomatic missions.

This is according to an infographic published by Slovo i Dilo.

In total, 27 cases of damage to diplomatic missions have been recorded in Ukraine during the war. Kyiv has suffered the most damage, with embassies, consulates, and representative offices of dozens of countries coming under attack.

  • Kyiv: 19 cases;
  • Odesa — 3 cases;
  • Kharkiv—3 cases;
  • Mariupol — 1 incident;
  • Sloviansk — 1 incident.

Odesa ranks second among Ukrainian cities in this regard, tied with Kharkiv.

What Has Been Damaged in Odesa

In Odessa, the Chinese consulate was damaged twice during the war—on July 20, 2023, and July 4, 2025. Additionally, on July 23, 2023, the Greek consulate in the city was damaged.

Thus, all three incidents in Odessa involved consular offices, whereas in Kyiv, attacks were primarily directed against embassies.

As reported by Intent, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that debris from one of the drones used by the Russians to shell Odesa on the night of July 4 damaged the Chinese consulate building, located in the city center.

The building of the Greek Consulate General was damaged during Russia’s massive missile strike on Odesa. The shelling also causeddamage to the city’s historic center and several dozen residential buildings.
