The occupiers have officially deprived Crimean Tatar Rustem Tairov, who was previously illegally convicted in the case of the 'Second Sevastopol Group of Hizb ut-Tahrir'.

This was reported by the manager of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center Zarema Barieva.

This happened exactly two years after the Southern District Military Court illegally sentenced the activist to 12 years in prison and one year of administrative supervision on charges of allegedly participating in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization.

According to human rights activist Zarema Bariieva, Rustem Tairov has been behind bars for more than four years. He was detained on August 17, 2021, during mass searches in Crimea, along with four other activists - Rustem Murasov, Dzhebbar Bekirov, Zavur Abdullayev and Raif Fevziev. Before his arrest, Rustem lived in Sevastopol and worked as a cook's assistant. He will celebrate his upcoming 56th birthday in a new place of illegal detention - Penal Colony No. 8 in the village of Khokhryaki (Republic of Udmurtia).

Also, earlier, the court left five Crimeans, defendants in the 'third Dzhankoy group' in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case, in pre-trial detention until January 13.

The measure of restraint was extended by the Southern District Military Court of the Russian Federation. The exception is Imam Remzi Kurtnezirov. The court did not satisfy the defense 's request to change the measure of restraint for Enver Khalilayev, who has health problems and needs surgery.

The case was initiated on March 5, 2024, after massive searches of Crimean Tatars. Then activists Memet Lyumanov, Aziz Azizov, Rustem Osmanov and Mustafa Abduramanov from Bakhchisarai, as well as residents of Dzhankoy district, were taken into custody: Ali Mamutov, Enver Khalilayev, Nariman Ametov, Vokhid Mustafayev and Arsen Kashka.
