In the Kherson region on the morning of November 3, a Ukrainian soldier destroyed a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile using a man-portable air defense system. The successful launch was carried out by a soldier named Valentin from the 208th Kherson Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade.

This was reported by the 208th Kherson Air Defense Missile Brigade.

According to military officials, this is already the fifth aerial target that Valentin has shot down. Prior to this, he had destroyed two jet-powered drones and two “Shahed”-type attack drones.

The soldier said he spotted the missile on his thermal imager and, after firing, saw an explosion in the sky. According to him, this is the first cruise missile he has managed to shoot down.

The brigade also released a video of the moment the Russian Kh-101 was destroyed.

The Kh-101 is a Russian strategic air-launched cruise missile designed to strike ground targets at long range. It is launched from Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers. The missile is equipped with a turbojet engine and a navigation system, allowing it to fly at low altitudes and bypass certain sections of air defense systems. The stated range of the basic version is up to 2,500 kilometers, and the warhead weighs approximately 400–500 kilograms. Russia is actively using the Kh-101 to strike targets in Ukraine, particularly energy and civilian infrastructure.
