In the temporarily occupied Oleshky on the left bank of the Kherson region, the Russian military is forcibly taking food from local residents.
This was reported to Krym.Realii by the head of the Oleshky city military administration Tatyana Hasanenko and Ukrainian journalist Maria Semenchenko, who keeps in touch with the residents of the city.
According to Hasanenko, there have already been cases of deaths in the city when people tried to protect their food supplies from the Russian military.
"We know that people died trying to protect their food from the occupiers. These bastards tried to take away the food and killed anyone who simply prevented them from going to the basement, where the last supplies for survival were stored," she said.
Journalist Maria Semenchenko also reported a case of a local resident being beaten by Russian soldiers because of food.
"The occupants came to one man and demanded to give him food. They beat him with a rifle butt and dragged him outside. Only when they heard the sound of a drone did the attackers leave him and run away," Semenchenko said.
According to interlocutors, the humanitarian situation in Oleshky remains critical. The city lacks food, medicine and basic goods, and evacuation of civilians is almost impossible due to constant fighting and control of the occupiers.
Russian military expert Yuriy Fedorov said in one of his YouTube videos that the Russian military themselves, who are in occupied Oleshky, are also experiencing a shortage of food.
"According to local residents, Russian soldiers, the rank and file, are starving there because there is not enough food," he said.
Recently, 32 people have been evacuated from the temporarily occupied Oleshky on the left bank of Kherson region.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said that the humanitarian situation in Oleshky is rapidly deteriorating - residents live without basic conditions and risk their lives every day. The town is effectively cut off from adequate supplies, and any attempts to deliver aid are fraught with mortal danger.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that the Russian occupiers are blocking the departure of the population and preventing the delivery of food, medicine and essential goods. As a result, local residents, including children and people with limited mobility, are forced to live without adequate access to food, drinking water, medical care and basic living conditions.
In addition, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the situation in Kherson and the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, in particular in Oleshky, is "particularly difficult". According to him, the evacuation of people from the left bank of the region remains extremely difficult.
