In Sevastopol, plans are in place to switch traffic lights to solar panels and other off-grid power sources. The decision was necessitated by problems with the power supply.

This was reported by Krym. Realii.

First and foremost, autonomous traffic lights will be installed near educational institutions and at particularly problematic intersections. However, no specific timeline for implementing these plans has been provided.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian mayor of the city, noted that the administration is currently calculating how much funding is needed for the conversion

We are currently calculating how much funding we need to secure key intersections and the most dangerous crosswalks, especially near educational institutions. We will definitely carry out this program, most likely as part of the broader energy efficiency improvement program,” he said.

Earlier, in the temporarily occupied city of Alushta, the occupiers conducted door-to-door inspections. They justified the checks by citing the need to verify residency in order to pay compensation for power outages. To receive compensation of 15,000 rubles (approximately 8,000 hryvnias) for a prolonged period without electricity, people must also provide documentary proof of their residence at a specific address. Specifically, they must provide representatives of the occupying authorities with a registration certificate or a lease agreement signed at least four months ago.
