A WHO warehouse containing medical supplies was damaged in Chornomorsk as a result of a Russian attack

In Chornomorsk, Odesa Oblast, a World Health Organization (WHO) warehouse where medical supplies were stored was damaged as a result of a nighttime attack by the Russian Federation.

This was reported by the WHO representative office in Ukraine.

The attack took place on the night of September 22. At the time of the strike, there were no WHO staff members on the warehouse premises.

“The WHO warehouse in Ukraine, located in Chornomorsk, Odesa Oblast, was damaged as a result of nighttime attacks,” the office said in a statement.

According to the organization’s preliminary assessment, a temperature-controlled facility where medical supplies were stored was damaged. The WHO is currently conducting a full assessment of the damage.

They noted that this is already the fourth of the organization’s warehouses in Ukraine to have been damaged by attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure over the past three months.

In addition, since the beginning of 2026, the WHO has recorded 21 attacks on facilities where medical supplies are stored in Ukraine.

Also, on September 22, Russia struck civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region. Warehouse facilities caught fire, resulting in a large-scale blaze. There were no fatalities or injuries.

Due to heavy smoke, experts tested the air quality—levels of hazardous substances and combustion byproducts were within normal limits, and there is no threat to the public.

Rescue workers fought the fire under difficult conditions: air raid alerts were sounded repeatedly during their operations, forcing firefighters to take cover, while the flames flared up again in the meantime.

Earlier, Russian troops launched a rocket-powered drone strike on Odesa. A man who was in his own garage was killed in that attack.
