A teenager was injured in the Kherson region when an explosive device detonated

In Zelenivka, Kherson Oblast, a teenager was injured when an unknown explosive device detonated. The 14-year-old boy sustained shrapnel wounds to his leg, a concussion, blast injury, and a closed head injury. 

This was reported by the Kherson Regional State Administration. 

The teenager is currently in the hospital. Doctors assess his condition as moderate.

Earlier, inthe Korabelny district of Kherson, a local resident was injured by a Russian explosive device. A “Pelyustka”-type anti-personnel mine detonated in the man’s hands. The Kherson resident died from his injuries. 

Earlier in Kherson, Russian shelling destroyedthe last functioning boxinggym where teenagers trained. The children and their coach filmed a video inside the damaged facility. They said they were supposed to train at noon but found their gym in ruins. The coach and students of the boxing club appealed to the International Olympic Committee, calling for Russian athletes to be barred from participating in international competitions. 

The president posthumously awarded the Order “For Merit,” Third Class, to KhersondoctorSerhiy Dmytriyev, who died on July 2 at his workplace as a result of a targeted Russian strike on the hospital. It is known that Serhiy Dmitriev dedicated more than 20 years to medicine. After the liberation of Kherson, he was one of the first to return to work and remained in the frontline city.
