A span of the Chongar Bridge collapsed

One of the spans of the Chongar Road Bridge, which connects the temporarily occupied Crimea with the Kherson region, has completely collapsed.

This was reported by the monitoring group “Crimean Wind,” citing satellite images.

According to the group, vehicle traffic is now being routed along a dam built nearby.

Meanwhile, the Russians have repaired a span of the railway bridge that had been destroyed by a strike from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In June, the Chongar Bridge in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region sustained critical damage during Ukrainian drone attacks on June 7 and 9.

The first strike on the Chongar Bridge was carried out on June 7. After that, traffic across the bridge was restored in a bidirectional mode.

On June 9, the bridge was attacked again by drones, causing traffic to be suspended once more. Following this, the so-called occupying authorities recommended using alternative routes through Armiansk and Perekop.

The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that the Chongar Bridge was completely destroyed after several drone strikes.

The Chongar Bridge is a road crossing over the Chongar Strait that connects the Kherson region with Crimea. A railway bridge is also located nearby, so the Chongar junction is important not only for civilian traffic but also for freight transport.

For the Russian army, this area is important primarily for logistical reasons. Routes between occupied Crimea and the seized territories of the Kherson region pass through Chongar, allowing for the transport of military cargo, including ammunition, fuel, and equipment.

This is precisely why Ukrainian strikes on bridges and crossings in this area are forcing the Russians to seek alternative routes and adjust their logistics.
