Russian forces launched an attack on a passenger train. Train No. 122 from Kyiv to Mykolaiv was targeted.

This was reported by the Ukrzaliznytsia press service.

According to the press service, the danger was detected in advance by a Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring team. After receiving the warning, the locomotive and train crews organized the evacuation of passengers from the train.

Both passengers and railway employees were successfully evacuated from the train. Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized that the top priority during such attacks is to save lives.

Currently, arrangements are being made to transport the train’s passengers to their destinations. The Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration has joined this effort—bus transportation is being organized for the passengers.

Ukrzaliznytsia also thanked the employees involved in the evacuation for their coordinated and prompt actions.

The company’s statement did not mention any casualties among the passengers or train staff.

In early September, attack drones struck a passenger train in Chornobaivka, Kherson Oblast. As a result of the attack, two people were injured and the locomotives were damaged. Twenty-one passengers and the train crew were evacuated from the scene.

In late August, in the Odesa region, a Russian attack drone struck the locomotive of passenger train No. 147 on the Zhytomyr–Odesa route.  Thanks to prompt action, passengers, the train crew, and the locomotive crew were evacuated before the strike. At the time of the attack, there were 593 passengers on the train, including 15 children.
