Ukraine Strikes Russian Air Defense in Crimea, Damaging Key Radar Systems

The Russian army in the temporarily occupied Crimea could not recover for several days after a large-scale attack carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Precision strikes by the Ukrainian military caused significant losses to enemy air defense systems and command posts, proving their vulnerability.

According to the DIU's press service, the operation destroyed and damaged critical facilities of the Russian army. Among them are modern radar stations responsible for detecting air targets and controlling air defense.

Radar stations:

  • 48Ya6-K1 "Podlet" - 2 pcs.
  • 1L125 "Niobium-SV" - 2 pcs.
  • 39N6 "Kasta 2E2" - 3 pcs.
  • 9S19 "Ginger", "Nebo-SV", S-300VM, "Nebo-M", 59N6-E "Protyvnik-GE", and "Mys" radar.

In addition, the launcher of the S-300SV system, command posts and three Pantsyr-S1 anti-aircraft missile systems were damaged.

The strikes also damaged the occupiers' military equipment: a transport and towing vessel, a universal tugboat "Fedor Uryupin" and a Mi-8 helicopter were destroyed.

In particular, among the damaged objects is 48Ya6-K1 Podlet, a modern three-coordinate radar that detects air targets at low altitudes. The cost of one such system is at least $60 million. The destruction of these systems significantly weakens the defense capabilities of the occupiers in the region.

1L125 "Niobium-SV" is a modern mobile three-coordinate radar designed to detect and track aerodynamic and ballistic targets, including low-visibility objects.

39N6 "Kasta-2E2" is a mobile two-coordinate radar of decimeter range of circular view of the duty mode. It is designed to detect aircraft and cruise missiles at low altitudes.

9C19 "Imbir" is a mobile three-axis illumination and targeting radar. It is part of the control system of the S-300V air defense missile system.

"Nebo-M is a modernized version of the Nebo radar system. It is designed to detect and track a wide range of airborne targets, including low-visibility objects. The system provides high measurement accuracy and resistance to interference.
