Two accomplices of the occupiers who held senior positions will be tried in Kherson region.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to the investigation, in 2022, two local residents voluntarily cooperated with the Russian invaders. One of them was promoted to the position of "head of the social policy department," and the other headed the "media and public relations department." In their positions, the women performed organizational tasks and helped the illegally created occupation authorities to function.

The District Prosecutor's Office has collected evidence of their collaboration activities, and now they will be brought to trial under Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for punishment for collaboration with the enemy. The women face a sentence of imprisonment for a term of three to five years, with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of ten to fifteen years and confiscation of property.

Earlier, law enforcement officers identified two more residents of Kherson region who organized illegal elections for the occupiers. They were notified in absentia of being suspected of collaboration.

Recently, police exposed a married couple from Kherson region who voluntarily helped the occupiers organize a fake referendum.

Earlier, three residents of the Kherson region who helped the Russians hold an illegal referendum were sentenced to ten years in prison with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the electoral process for fifteen years.

The Kherson court also found a local resident guilty of collaborating with the occupiers during the pseudo-referendum in Kherson region. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
