The SBU exposed and detained a Russian agent in Odesa who was collecting coordinates of the Ukrainian military for drone and missile strikes. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the SBU Communications Department.

SBU CI exposed and detained another Russian agent in Odesa. On the instructions of the Russian Federal Security Service, he was collecting coordinates of Ukrainian positions to prepare a new combined drone and missile strike on the city.

According to the investigation, the traitor was a 52-year-old local resident who had attracted the attention of Russian special services with his pro-Russian posts on the Odnoklassniki social network. After being recruited, the man monitored the location of radar stations, anti-aircraft missile systems and mobile air defense groups defending the skies over Odesa.

During air raids, the agent would drive around the city, trying to record the work of Ukrainian air defense, taking pictures of fortifications and military locations on the coast. He sent the collected data to his FSB handler, who has already been identified by the SBU.

During the detention, a smartphone with reports for the occupiers was seized from the man. He was served a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect is in custody without the right to be released on bail. The man faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

In early October, a couple suspected of preparing a terrorist attack near the Memorial of the 411th Battery against the military was detained in Odesa. According to the investigation, a 35-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were recruited by Russian special services, who promised them between 5 and 10 thousand dollars and the opportunity to travel abroad to complete their tasks.

Investigators claim that the suspects planned to pick up an improvised explosive device disguised as a wooden stump in one of Odesa's parks and install it next to the memorial to detonate it during the military's stay there.
