People died in Odesa region due to mine explosion near the coast

Vacationers were swimming in a prohibited area in the resort village of Zatoka, Odesa region, and hit a mine.
The information about the tragedy was confirmed by the press center of the Odesa Operational and Strategic Military Group.
"Another tragedy has occurred in Odesa region: citizens, ignoring the established safety rules, were swimming in a prohibited area and as a result tripped an explosive device. This incident is yet another confirmation of the extreme danger of staying in untested water areas," the JFO emphasized.
They also recalled that as of July 2025, 32 zones suitable for safe swimming are officially operating in the region. Of these, 30 are located in the city of Odesa, and one more in the city of Chornomorsk and the village of Prymorske, Izmail district. All of these zones have undergone a comprehensive inspection, including the availability of shelters and the absence of mine danger both on land and in the water.
