Collaborator from Kherson helped Russians create an illegal prison and paid the price

A former jailer from Kherson voluntarily joined the enemy and helped create the occupiers' prison. Now he will spend 14 years behind bars with confiscation of all his property. His name is Vyacheslav Malkov.
According to the Center for Investigative Journalism, he was sentenced by the Kherson City Court.
Thus, in May 2022, he took up the position of deputy head of the so-called "Northern Correctional Colony No. 90", created by the invaders on the basis of a Ukrainian prison. Thus, the man actually remained in office, but in the "service" of the enemy.
When the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated Kherson, Malkov did not have time to leave the city. He was detained in February 2023.
The former penitentiary system employee pleaded not guilty. He claimed that he did not agree to work with the occupiers, but was forced to - under threats, beatings, and after his abduction. However, the court did not believe these explanations: there was no evidence of pressure on him, and some witnesses stated that only those who agreed to work with the occupiers were taken to the occupation prison.
It was also significant that Malkov himself filed a statement about his alleged abduction by the occupiers with the SBI only after he learned about the criminal proceedings on the fact of his collaboration with the enemy.
As a result, the Kherson City Court found Vyacheslav Malkov guilty of collaboration under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison with confiscation of all his property.
In addition, Malkov must pay about 19 thousand hryvnias for forensic examinations. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
Earlier, we wrote about collaborator Serhiy Chetvergov from Kakhovka, who has been working with the Russians as a policeman since 2022. He is directly involved in the abductions and brutal torture of local residents, claiming that he seeks to completely "cleanse" the city of pro-Ukrainian citizens.
